Cody Flint

Cody was born 4/28/95 and is 12 years old. Cody's doctor thought he had Cerebral Palsy with failure to thrive diagnosis. His Mom took him to the early intervention program and they said he would never walk nor ride a bike at that time. He had grand mal seizure at 3 and was in the hospital for a week. Dad and grandpa took turns staying with him. We met Dr. Donald Johns then and he referred us to Dr. Colleen Morris. In the meantime my sister in Hilo, HI read an article in the paper about an angel there. She sent it to me and the way this girl acted was so similar to Cody's so we got him tested for AS. It came back positive. Deletion of the 15th chromosome.

Cody was a handful when he was younger. Everything was nonstop and in motion all the time. He had absolutely no attention span and his sleep patterns were terrible. We started using 1 mg of melatonin so we could get our rest. Before this, we were sleeping in shifts. We had to eat in shifts at home and at the restaurants.

As Cody gets older, he's getting better at sitting and watching TV or a movie. He loves salads and fruits. He will pick off the lettuce, tomato & onion off his hamburger only. When he was younger he loved bananas but all of a sudden one day he wouldn't eat them and has not touched them since. He eats most food and has a healthy appetite.

For someone who doesn't talk, he's very popular. Everyone knew him in the schools he attended, out in public events, etc. I was in the elevator going to see the Dr. and this lady got in with me. She said she remembered me. I was Cody's grandma! At restaurants or events, people always come up to us because they know Cody. When he graduated from preschool, the aides fought to see who would dress him and walk with him!

Cody's dad said he does not know how to hate or be mad at anyone. He loves everyone and wants to hug and kiss them. Our angels were brought into our lives for a special reason. Once people get to know them, they are a joy to be around.
